Purchasing
cheap tiles is the best way to go in
this economy. There are many applications for tiles and
there simply is no reason to overspend on such a necessity.
Having good tiles is very important since they make the
entire surface better and also do not let air or water
through.
The one
thing that many people do not realize is just how much
extra expense can be incurred due to faulty tiles. The
weather conditions have been becoming more extreme in the
recent years and having a tightly sealed home will cut
down on all of the additional cooling and heating that we
have to do. With electricity prices steadily rising this
could be a huge money saver in
itself.
Also since
tiles are usually laid down in places subjected to water
a good set of tiles will prevent moisture from making its
way down and into the walls or floors. One of the most
dangerous particles which we can subject a human body to
is mold. Many of the locations behind tiles make for
awesome environments when it comes to mold growth. They
are usually warm, moist and dark. This can be a reason
for many flu like symptoms and checking for mold is
always very important.
So what
should you be on the watch for when purchasing cheap tiles? While there are
many factors, the most important include:
cost, correct fit,
reputation of the product, and
correct thickness for your
home.
Cost
While there
are many different companies and tiles to chose from,
there is no reason to buy something which will make your
family go hungry. Let's face it, having tiles is very
important for your family's safety due to factors such as
fungus, mold and bacteria; however having an expensive
set of tiles though is really not adding any benefits to
the equation. There are many tiles available in a
price range that is comfortable to every
type of customer.
Fit
Since all
surfaces are not designed equal it is very important to
find the correct fit for your needs. This can either be
done with support from a specialist, by reading how-to books, or
taking very careful measurements. I would not recommend
doing this by yourself unless you are quite handy and have a
bit of experience as setting tiles can be quite misleading
if you do not know what you are doing.
Reputation
This is
what I consider very important as the quality of the
tiles will determine how often you need to replace them.
Do not always confuse quality for high price as I have
seen some very expensive products which do not measure up
to ones in a much lower price range. Cheap tiles do not mean bad tiles and it
is up to you to do the correct research and get the best
deal available. It might be better to call them affordable
tiles instead if that makes sense.
Thickness
Since
thicker tiles are more durable and hold
temperature better it might make sense to consider the
climate and applications which the tiles will be subjected
too. Walls which border which inside rooms should be looked
at differently from walls that are holding the temperature
steady due to being right across from the outside
weather.
There is
also the subject of decor which is also quite important.
When choosing your tiles be positive that they are
something that you will like looking at every day. It is
smart to make your environment at home as comfortable as
possible.
